Generated by math and infused with cultural remnants absorbed during extensive travels, Yvette Kaiser Smith’s work broadly falls into the category of geometric abstraction. Her work uses a broad range of materials, often textile-based, with the nature of these materials front and center. Yvette was born in Soviet occupied Prague, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to the United States as a child. She has exhibited work throughout the US and abroad.

Artist Talk & Reception: Wednesday, November 8, 12:45pm

Working with images mined from lush print media, Angela Piehl creates intricate collages, abstract paintings, and drawings. Her densely layered compositions pose questions to the viewer about nature, beauty, society, consumerism, and gender norms.

Piehl has exhibited her work and lectured nationally and internationally. She is based in Milwaukee where she is Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 2pm

Waubonsee Community College in conjunction with the Art Department and the Dickson Window Art Project Space invites you to an Artist Talk with Diana Gabriel. The talk will take place in the Arrowhead Gallery adjacent to Gabriel's installation in the Dickson Window.

Our very own Point of View, Harper College's student art and literary magazine, won 1st prize in this year’s national Community College Humanities Association’s Art and Literary Magazine Competition.

Congrats to our Faculty Art and Design Advisor, Karen Patterson and Faculty Literary Advisor, Jessica Walsh. Both work tirelessly on this project every year, and it’s so nice to see them deservedly awarded.

In addition, special congrats to Josephine Erbacci, student design editor, and Stephanie Wayda, student literary editor, for this year's publication.

The exhibit highlights Small Works selected from entries by artists nationwide. The exhibition features various media, from photography and prints to painting and sculpture. This year's juror is Laura Burkhalter, Senior Curator, Des Moines Art Center, Des Moines, IA.

This annual juried exhibition highlights small works of art selected from entries by artists from across the country. This 45th edition of Small Works includes pieces by 22 artists chosen from nearly 700 submissions. Our juror this year was Laura Burkhalter, Senior Curator, Des Moines Art Center, Des Moines, Iowa.
